This table is made from very old oak beams found in my friend’s grandmother’s house in Vilijampolė. This is wood that has been a part of this house for many years – absorbing time, people’s voices, smells and lives. It left traces of all this – cracks, colours.
I left a few old nails at the bottom – deliberately, as a reminder of authenticity and caution: that every thing has its own story and there is no need to hide it.
The top is covered with a clear glass panel, which allows you to see the entire surface of the wood, as if time had stopped. Two glass supports, slightly tilted, create a contrast – between old and new, nature and man, stability and fragility.
