This is part of a rotating well ring, the support of which is a metal rod that also supports the glass. Like the balance of life, which, when maintained, reveals beauty. The glass is easily dismantled from the existing concrete base. The depicted greasy graffiti, along with a bright stylized animal with a brick, is a witty and unexpected work of Kaunas street art. It depicts an anthropomorphic animal (usually interpreted as a dog or a small animal) holding a red brick. What is it about: This symbol reflects the character of Kaunas city – tough, a little ironic, but at the same time creative and lively.
The brick in the animal’s hands is like a metaphor:
• For the defense of the city – the animal is ready to defend its territory.
• For construction – the brick symbolizes the renewal and growth of the city.
• For irony – it can also be a funny, sarcastic reference to “Kaunas toughness”.
It is an unofficial but recognizable symbol of the city, associated with Kaunas street culture, the artist Morfa, and the city’s alternative identity. It invites citizens not to take themselves too seriously, but at the same time to feel proud of their environment.
