Face

NR. 004

This work speaks the language of the city – rough, straightforward, but at the same time sensitively revealing transience. The composition of concrete blocks evokes a sense of instability – they seem to be turning, barely held by a sheet of broken glass, which becomes not only a physical but also a symbolic support. Their cracked tops are like scars, silent stories about time, pressure, circumstances. These are fragments that were never supposed to be part of art – but here they become its essence. The glass between them – transparent, fragile, almost imperceptible – stretches the entire composition. As if holding everything together with the last forces. At the same time, it emphasizes the contrast between structure and fragility, between rationality and chaos. The face carved into one of the blocks is a subtle allusion to the visual language of Kaunas Old Town, which I saw on one of the walls of Kaunas Old Town. This face, transferred from street art to interior installation, creates a bridge between public and private space, between everyday life and art. This motif becomes like the soul of the city, transferred to a clean, minimalist context, in which every element – light, shadow, material – takes on a special meaning. This work asks – what remains when the city stops growing? Where does what was “just material” go? And can’t the accidentally split edges become the most authentic accents of art?
