Tunnel to myself
NR. 016
This is a unique object that combines raw urban architecture with a moment of personal reflection. The remaining concrete overlay and the restored mirror balance between the aesthetics of brutalism and a sensitive narrative. The used mirror – found, cracked, should have been thrown away. Its imperfection becomes a value, a meaningful transience, fragility and human imperfection. The concrete base retains authentic tunnel motifs – graffiti, symbols and drawings, familiar to those who have been through the city’s dungeons, through the backstage of life. The voices of the street come to life in the cavities – a crocodile, letters, lines that speak of the everyday noise of the city, spontaneous creativity and freedom. The mirror, like a person, is anchored in this massive background – fragile, but courageous. This mirror speaks of the connection between the outside and the inside. The tunnel into oneself is a moment of an adult city dweller – a mirror of introspection, experiences, traces of the past, and still-living inner freedom.
